What is Anchor Text?
When creating web links, this is the technique of using a keyword as the link instead of the link being just your website address. Use the anchor text of the link to tell visitors and search engines what the page you are linking to is about.
Example: Instead of linking to your website with www.sdksolutions.co.uk use keywords that describe the destination page: web site design.
To increase your search position for particular keywords you need optimise the page by carefully setting the Title tag, Meta description, Heading and URL structure as well as using the anchor text to link the pages of your website from not only the menus but within content.
The most effective way of using anchor text is to do so from a page on another website, which is relevant to the page you are linking too.
A common mistake is using images in your menus in place of text. The search engines cannot see the text inside an image to determine what the anchor text is.
